Viva is delighted to have two tickets to the upcoming Waiheke Winter Arts Festival to give away, plus ferry tickets and the use of a rental car for the day, a prize valued at more than $200. The annual arts festival, on Queen’s Birthday weekend (June 3-5), is an opportunity to enjoy the island’s art scene, with 37 galleries and studios opening their doors from 10am-4pm on each day of the long weekend.
There are plenty of events on to support the festival, including artist demonstrations at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery, a Wine and Cheese Soiree from 5-7pm on Sunday with light jazz by Adams and Gavin, and an “Over a Barrel” silent auction with original artworks created by artists on barrel staves. Mediums include ceramics, woodcarving, glass. bronze and textiles. Artists, painters, photographers involved include, Anton Forde, Leslie Karl Baxter, Lynsday Champion, Christine Hafermalz-Wheeler, Sue Engels, Peter Rees, Ilya Volykhine, Paula Richa, Emma Hughes, Nigel Rees, Elemaria Cabral, Jane Vile, Jane Burn and Black Sand Bronze.
