The Insider’s Guide to New Zealand 2018 is in stores now. To celebrate, we’re giving away three boxes of a dozen macarons from J’aime les Macarons, an artisan dessert bar which features in the central Christchurch chapter.
Warning, do not approach the counter of J’aime les Macarons if hungry. It’s just as much art gallery as bakery – there’s a rainbow of bright macarons with bold flavours including vanilla, rose, pistachio and salted butter caramel. Owner Bridget O’Sullivan worked as a commercial lawyer in NZ and London, and on travelling home to NZ, decided to combine her business knowledge with something she loved to do – bake.
