If you’re a foodie or fancy yourself as a wine connoisseur, then you’ll love Toast Martinborough!
Set amongst nine vineyards, this is a unique opportunity to savour the wines from past and current vintages, as well as delicious food matched with each wine.
The lucky winner will get to choose one of the following options:
Option 1: Ata Rangi Vineyard with Ruth Pretty.
Indulge, up front and centre at their mid-morning Oyster Hour and Wine 101
- The Oyster Hour is a Kiwi food and wine match made in heaven, pairing the freshest shucked ‘fruits of the sea’ with Ata Rangi’s cellared, special release Craighall Riesling.
- Wine 101 takes you through a light-hearted, yet informative tasting of multiple wines and what all the fuss is about. Get some jargon-busting tips and wine secrets from uber-talented and entertaining head winemaker, Helen Masters.
Option 2: Escarpment and Hester Guy Catering
Select anything you wish from the fabulous menu, including but not limited to their Stewart Island Seafood Bar – which will be sizzling with fresh blue cod, oysters, salmon and more. Match it with the festival-exclusive Escarpment Rose – created especially for the festival, and only available on the day. There will be no other opportunity to try this wine – the latest creation from legendary winemaker Larry McKenna.
Option 3: Palliser Estate and Bar Salute
Salute (pronounced Salu-tay) are world famous in the Wairarapa for their tapas with a modern Middle Eastern/Spanish twist. Salute’s Travis The BBQ Kings will butcher and cook in an interactive session that will entertain and educate you. Using the very best Wairarapa beef and lamb this is a must see, and will set you up to be the ‘King of the BBQ’ for the rest of the summer. Enjoy exclusively for two, Roasted OP Rib*, asparagus, potato croquettes and red wine sauce matched with Palliser Pinot Noir.
*OP Rib is the 'flintstone' standing rib of beef. Basically the OP ( oven prepared) Rib is a Ribeye on the bone and looks very flintstone-like, cooks beautifully ( as it's on the bone) - it's really impressive!
