Known to many as the “sassy” Project Runway judge, New York-based Zac Posen is also one of fashion’s most fantastical designers; creating incredible red carpet gowns for the likes of Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman and Oprah. With a penchant for old-school Hollywood glamour with a modern bent, Zac and his designs — both for the red carpet and his more commercially focused lines — are the focus of a new documentary screening at the New Zealand International Film Festival, which opens this Friday. Directed by Sandy Chronopoulos, House of Z, which is presented by Viva, looks back at the designer’s career and balance of creativity and commerce; talking to friends, family and well-known muses.
