Michael Griffiths performs the legacy of Cole Porter, one of Broadway’s most revered composers of the 20thcentury. Cole is a show with is a part of the International Cabaret Festival hitting Auckland this September. His story is retold with distinguishable flair by Helpmann Award winning (Aussie equivalent to a Tony) Cabaret star Michael Griffiths.
Cole will be a nostalgic flashback show to the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood. Griffiths explores the colourful life and timeless songs of Cole Porter including Let’s Misbehave, You’re the Top, It’s Delovely and Night and Day. Being told by a friend that Porter’s songs would ‘suit’ his voice Griffith’s adapts to the camp vintage soul. Cole has played at London’s Royal Albert Hall, all over California and a US tour which extended to Australia and now to New Zealand. This show will explores Porter’s marriages, successes, travels and misfortunes – a rather extraordinary tale for the stage.
