Country Calendar first aired on March 6, 1966, and is New Zealand’s longest-running TV show and the second-longest running show in the world after the UK’s Coronation Street.
Over the years, the programme has found a special place in New Zealanders’ hearts and the landmark episode is a chance to recognise the real stars of the series – the people who work the land. This year marks a milestone for Country Calendar as it celebrates its 50th birthday in March, and airs a one-hour special to kick off the 2016 series. This programme will revisit rural families who have previously featured on the show to see what they’re up to today.
