The notion of colouring in for adults took on a whole life of its own last year, after having been a major phenomenon in Europe that struck our shores mid 2015.
The most sought after titles were by the talented Scottish illustrator Johanna Basford, who at that time had two books (The Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest) – but there was a delay of several months in our being able to satisfy demand as the printers literally could not get hold of enough paper to make them!
Publishers then started to deliver a deluge of alternative titles, & there are now a vast number available to choose from.

6058845-0066446We understand that the fascination with colouring in originally grew from the Mindfulness movement, which encourages followers to live in the moment, and to plan for times of peace and quiet in their lives. So many of us now are looking for ways to make our lives less stressful, & the simple act of applying pen to paper has a creative aspect to it, with the singular focus on the work at hand resulting in a period of relative calm.
We’ve seen some truly wonderful examples of adult colouring in. Not only do some followers produce simply gorgeous works of art, many also extend their creative range with all kinds of embellishments – embossing & 3-D amongst them. These are works to be proud of, & the time investment that people are making seems to bring out the happy gene!
